His objective is to obtain a satisfactory business solution with the least expenditure of time and resources appropriate given the stakes involved. At the same time, Ira is eager to try cases when amicable resolution turns out to be impossible.

Ira has represented a number of Fortune 500 corporations and two major accounting firms, as well as well-known entertainers and songwriters, in litigation at the trial and appellate levels and in arbitration. He has represented people and small businesses in their disputes as well.

Ira served as an Assistant to the General Counsel, Department of the Army, before beginning his career in private practice. Following his military career, and prior to joining the Firm in 1992, Ira practiced with two other New York firms.

Ira's experience includes:

  • Received a defense verdict in a securities fraud class action on behalf of one of the nation's largest accounting firms. Ira also obtained complete vindication for that accounting firm in an arbitration of a malpractice claim, despite the alleged "disappearance" of millions of dollars from the company under audit
  • Received two New York Court of Appeals decisions declaring state tax statutes unconstitutional on behalf of an international telecommunications giant
  • Tried a case and argued the appeals for the prevailing party in the leading New York case on anticipatory contract breach
  • Obtained summary judgment for a collectible stamp auction house in a RICO and price-fixing case and argued the appeal for all of the defendants
  • Represented Fortune 500 companies as lead counsel in New York City in their asbestos injury and wrongful death cases and as lead counsel nationally in their repetitive stress injury cases
