Brad Knapp advises clients on a variety of litigation and bankruptcy matters. Brad has been involved in every aspect of the Chapter 11 process, including representing debtors, assisting with committee representations, representing buyers with bankruptcy acquisitions and representing creditors. Brad also has extensive experience with bankruptcy litigation on behalf of energy industry clients and consumer finance clients. Brad also represents energy clients in regulatory matters, particularly related to offshore oil and gas interests.

Bankruptcy Proceedings & Litigation

• Represent various secured and unsecured creditors in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings, including preparing proofs of claim, objecting to cash collateral or debtor in possession financing motions, objecting to disclosure statements and plans, defending claim objections, defending preference actions, and participating in bankruptcy sale and auction processes
• Represent clients in bankruptcy appeals both to the district courts and various courts of appeal
• Represented the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the Chapter 11 bankruptcy case of Seadrill Partners LLC
• Served as local counsel to the first lien lenders in the prepackaged bankruptcy case of Mood Media Corporation and its affiliates, one of the fastest Chapter 11 cases in history
• Represented the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 1245 as its bankruptcy counsel in the Pacific Gas & Electric bankruptcy in the Northern District of California. The IBEW represents thousands of PG&E employees and contractors and served as a member of the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors of PG&E
• Represented debtor clients in Chapter 11 cases involving wood pellet manufacturing facilities
• Represented energy industry client creditor group in Chapter 11 proceeding of offshore oil and gas operator with particular focus on decommissioning liabilities
• Represent energy industry clients in a variety of bankruptcy matters on both the debtor and creditor side
• Represent energy industry clients in pursuing distressed asset acquisitions in bankruptcy cases
• Assisted in representation of mortgage servicer in government investigation into bankruptcy servicing activities
• Assisted in representation of mortgage servicers and student loan servicers in bankruptcy adversary proceedings and in bankruptcy class actions involving a variety of bankruptcy law compliance issues and other consumer protection statutes

• Represent consumer finance clients in a wide variety of litigation, including class action litigation in state and federal court

Energy Litigation

• Represent oil and gas companies in negotiating regulatory matters with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) and Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE)
• Represent oil and gas companies in appeals to the Interior Board of Land Appeals (IBLA)
• Represent oil and gas companies in litigation over consulting agreements and litigation to enforce operating agreement and lease provisions
