Texas Lawyer Quotes Cynthia Bast on Appointment as Austin Office Managing Partner and Leadership Goals

Texas Lawyer featured Cynthia Bast, Chair of Locke Lord’s Affordable Housing and Community Development Section, upon her appointment as Austin Office Managing Partner. Bast now serves as one of three female Partners leading Locke Lord’s Texas offices simultaneously for the first time — a milestone for the Firm, which has had a deep bench of women leaders throughout its history.

Bast, who is also a member and former Co-Chair of Locke Lord’s Board of Directors, noted she was a third-year Associate in 1994 when recruited as one of seven lawyers to launch the Firm’s Austin office. It’s an “amazing career arc” to now be the Managing Partner of the office, she said.

One of Bast’s goals as Office Managing Partner is to help the Firm come out the other side of the pandemic in a transformative way. “We were all thrown into a new environment, and in the next few years we will be managing the issues, coming back to work in an office environment while still permitting the flexibility of working at home,” she said.
