Charles Baker, a Partner in the Firm’s Houston and Austin offices, provided insight to The Texas Lawbook on the verdict in the second of three VLSI Technology LLC v. Intel Corp. trials in the Western District of Texas (WDTX). A Waco jury ruled that Intel Corp. did not infringe on two of VLSI’s patents. Baker, who tuned in virtually, said longer deliberation times often translate to a defense patent verdict both in the WDTX as well as in the Eastern District of Texas. In respect to the openings and closings of the trial, Baker said Intel seemed to be more “aggressive in presenting their side of the argument” this time around, including “spending more time attacking infringement.”
