Locke Lord Partner Ted Augustinos Quoted by Law360 on Meta’s €1.2 Billion Data Privacy Fine

Ted Augustinos, a member of the steering committee of Locke Lord’s Privacy and Cybersecurity Practice Group and Managing Partner of the Hartford office, was quoted by Law360 on the European Union’s fine of €1.2 billion against Facebook parent company Meta for alleged data protection violations. Augustinos noted he expects the fine to increase the political pressure on both sides of the Atlantic to satisfy EU regulators and find common ground to allow EU/U.S. data transfers.

In the meantime, businesses that transfer large volumes of sensitive data remain at risk. “The more data, and the more sensitive the data, the more concern,” Augustinos added.
