Locke Lord Partner Frank Stevenson Elected President-Elect of State Bar of Texas

May 4, 2015 ­– Locke Lord Partner Frank Stevenson has been elected the next President-Elect of the State Bar of Texas by attorneys from across the state following a two-month-long campaign and voting period that ended on April 30.

Stevenson, who has been at Locke Lord throughout his 36-year legal career, will be sworn in as President-Elect during the State Bar’s Annual Meeting set for June 19, 2015 in San Antonio. He will serve as President of the State Bar of Texas from June 2016 to June 2017.

“It speaks volumes about our Firm that we now have the President-Elect of the ABA, Paulette Brown, the President-Elect of the State Bar of Texas, Frank Stevenson, and the President of the Dallas Bar, Brad Weber, in our ranks,” said Locke Lord Chair Jerry Clements. “In addition, our Partner Harriet Miers previously served as President of the State Bar of Texas and Providence Partner Bob Weisberger is the immediate past President of the Rhode Island Bar Association. As I said throughout my campaign across Texas, the State Bar does so much good for Texas lawyers, but there is so much more good that can and must be done. I look forward to turning my words into actions.”

Stevenson, who is based in Locke Lord’s Dallas office, has built a substantial real estate/finance and public law practice during his career. He has represented owners, developers and other clients in the acquisition, development, leasing, financing, and sale of significant properties. In recent years, he has increasingly focused on the representation of governmental entities in their project advancement and legislative activities.

Stevenson has previously served on and chaired the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas; he is a former President of the Dallas Bar Association; and he is currently a member of the Board of Trustees for the Dallas Bar Foundation and serves as its Secretary-Treasurer.

Stevenson has been honored by legal-aid providers and received presidential citations from the State and Dallas bars. He was the founding chair of award-winning programs to mentor beginning lawyers and to diversify the profession. He holds numerous leadership positions with civic, charitable, arts, and educational organizations.
