March 2, 2017 – Locke Lord Chicago Partner Bilal Zaheer has been selected as a member of the 2017 Fellows Program for the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). This marks the fourth consecutive year a Locke Lord lawyer has taken part in the LCLD Fellows Program, which identifies, trains and advances the next generation of leaders in the legal profession.
According to LCLD, the program, established in 2011, is one of its most important initiatives. As a member, Zaheer will participate with LCLD’s top leadership in conferences and projects aimed at increasing leadership and relationship skills for lawyers who are committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive legal profession.
Zaheer focuses his practice on business litigation and dispute resolution in state and federal court as well as arbitration and mediation. He regularly advises and counsels companies facing disputes arising from complex corporate and commercial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, investment banking engagements, joint ventures, distributorships, and sales of goods and real estate. Zaheer has represented clients in disputes around the country involving contract claims under the common law and Uniform Commercial Code, matters of corporate governance, director and officer liability, business and securities fraud, and unfair competition claims.
Zaheer serves as Co-Chair of the Litigation Committee and the Diversity & Inclusion Committee for the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. He is also Co-Chair of the Young Lawyers Division for the South Asian Bar Association of North America. Zaheer is a graduate of University of Illinois College of Law and Washington University in St. Louis.
