Jim Cavanagh focuses his practice on private equity and M&A. He has represented private equity firms, their portfolio companies and other corporate clients in a variety of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, debt and equity offerings, minority investments and reorganizations. Jim also serves as outside general corporate counsel to portfolio companies of private equity clients.

Jim Cavanagh focuses his practice on private equity and M&A. Jim also serves as outside general corporate counsel to portfolio companies of private equity clients.

Jim has been involved in the following transactions:

  • Assisted in the representation of a security services provider in its acquisition of the cyber threat detection business of a military contractor and the formation of a new, unified organization
  • Led the representation of a private equity firm in the sale of its portfolio company, a provider of municipal waste and recycling collection and processing services, to a private equity management firm
  • Assisted in the representation of a private equity firm in the acquisition of a temporary staffing provider to the multifamily residential real estate industry
  • Led the representation of IT Solutions Consulting, Inc., a portfolio company of Nautic Partners, in its acquisition of 100% of the ownership interest of CHIPS Technology Consulting Group, LLC
  • Assisted in the representation of Textron Aviation Inc., a subsidiary of Textron Inc. which provides airborne solutions for government, military and commercial customers, in acquisition of Mistequay Group, Ltd.
  • Assisted in the representation of Nautic Partners, a middle-market private equity firm, in its investment in IT Solutions Consulting, Inc.
  • Assisted in the representation of Millstone Medical Outsourcing and its majority owner Schooner Capital in the sale of Millstone to Arlington Capital Partners, a Washington, D.C.-based private equity firm
