Houston Team Secures Decision in Favor of Highland Resources, Inc.

A Locke Lord team of Janet Militello, Emma Doineau and Ryan Burns (all of Houston) represented Highland Resources, Inc., against claims of fraud and breach of employment agreements brought by a former CEO arising from an alleged unenforceable agreement to agree. After significantly reducing the amount of damages at issue through aggressive motion and discovery practice, the team secured a decision from the 190th Judicial District Court denying all claims, including plaintiff’s demand for damages in excess of $3 million at trial. The case was tried in December 2020 with a judgment issued on Feb. 2, 2021.
